Sindiso Nyoni
Came across this fellows work today. Its tight, that's all I got to say about it. I believe in lifting up local designers who are doing what they do best, none of this tall poppy sydrome rubbish. Well, he definitely has professional skills but nothing that makes him his own entity. He has reached the most frustrating period of an artists grow towards becoming a name separate from references or inquiries to their influences.
ReplyDeleteHopefully he will keep chase a voice that is his and his alone. A classic example would be Ray Charles who was a reasonable successful performer but early in his career was always seen as being like someone (Nate King Cole etc)as opposed to being known as Ray Charles.
